About the Role:

As a Trip Leader for Lesbifriends Travel, your job is to ensure an unforgettable experience for our community. You’ll keep the energy high, handle any issues that arise, coordinate with the Operations team, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all travelers.

A Day in the Life:

There’s no typical day as a Trip Leader—each one is a new adventure! You’ll follow a detailed itinerary that covers meeting spots, contacts, and schedules, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead 8-16 travelers, delivering exceptional customer service and enthusiasm.

  • Address traveler questions and concerns professionally.

  • Adhere to the established itinerary.

  • Assist travelers throughout the trip.

  • Recap the trip.

  • Create content for Lesbifriends Travel (blog posts, photos, Instagram stories, etc.).

  • Foster community and embrace Lesbifriends Travel culture.

Must-Haves:

  • Passion for adventure travel.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Resourceful and calm under pressure.

  • Fluent in English.

  • CPR/First Aid training.

  • Knowledge of local culture.

  • Public speaking ability and group management skills.

  • Interest in connecting with travelers and empathy for others.

  • Experience with digital tools like Google Docs, Canva, and email.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Industry experience.

  • Photography or videography skills.

  • Wilderness First Responder training.

  • Local knowledge/contacts.

  • Long-term travel experience.

  • Fluency in the language of the destination country.

  • Our travelers vary in age, so it’s ideal to have a Trip Leader who can connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • Experience is preferred but not mandatory. Ideal candidates have attended a Lesbifriends Travel trip, communicate well, are responsible, and enjoy leadership roles.

  • You’ll need to complete Lesbifriends Travel Trip Leader Training and current Health & Safety courses, including CPR & First Aid.

  • We consider personal preferences, language skills, and experience when assigning trips. Returning Lesbifriends get priority on specific itineraries.

  • It’s helpful but not required. Language skills may prioritize you for certain destinations.

  • Yes, we prefer local trip leaders with in-depth knowledge of the area to offer authentic experiences.

  • Your compensation includes everything on a trip that a paid traveler would get. This varies for each trip, however at a minimum will include double occupancy accommodations, transportation to/from activities mentioned on itinerary, activities and excursions included on the itinerary, and meals included in the itinerary.

  • Trip Leaders cover their international flights to the trip destination, booked no later than 45 days before the trip.

  • A smartphone with international phone service and a passport valid for at least 18 months.

  • We have 12 trips planned in 2025, with more frequent trips starting in 2026.

  • We’ll match you with the itineraries you’re most qualified for based on your expertise, however you can communicate what trip(s) you would prefer to lead, and we will take that into consideration.

  • Most trips require daily walking, so a good level of physical fitness is needed.

  • Trip Leading is a full-time responsibility while on the trip, so plan accordingly.
